A note to you - next time you're in MA (or some parts of CT or RI), have some New England-style Greek Pizza. It's probably the most common style of pizza in and around Boston and you never hear about it. It's an oiled pan pizza with a smooth, crispy crust and distinctly bready (not chewy) dough, very herby paste-based sauce, and a healthy dose of snappy, salty cheese (I suspect they might put a little cheddar in there). I love it but grew up on it, so I can understand how others might not. Would enjoy seeing your take. Most any mom-and-pop place in eastern MA will have decent Greek pizza (they'll sometimes be called "House of Pizza" or will otherwise use Greek iconography, but not always). Anyways, check it out and thanks for the site.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216600486003762392.post-39764020833476731122014-07-17T12:14:26.859-04:002014-07-17T12:14:26.859-04:00Thanks for the note! I have been eating Midwest all my life and have probably had 50 or more examples. You got the gist its flat, its party cut, yes good sausage is really key, but toppings in general are the focus even if not sausage, usually overloaded with toppings.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9216600486003762392.post-44822662980011595922014-01-20T08:06:04.273-05:002014-01-20T08:06:04.273-05:00Thanks for the tip on Favilla's. They have been open for three years now and have made quite a name for themselves around town. They were voted best Specialty Pizza in the Asheville 2012 Pizza Showdown.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
